1943 wird Jean-Paul Sartre Mitglied im „ Comité National des Ecrivains “, welcher mit dem Widerstand zusammen arbeitet. Im selben Jahr veröffentlicht er sein erstes philosophisches Hauptwerk „Das Sein und das Nichts“, welches von der totalen Freiheit ohne Gnade, ohne Reue und ohne Gott und somit der totalen Verantwortung des freien Menschen auf der Erde handelt.
